In 2026, Ervin returns to Banja Luka and discovers a passage beneath the Vrbas River. On the other side is a world where the Yugoslav wars never happened—and his beloved father is still alive.

But Branka and Ema are waiting in St. Petersburg. As the two realities begin to collide, Ervin must uncover the passage’s secret and decide what it means to come home. His fast black 2000 Pontiac Trans Am WS6 and love of basketball and swimming form part of this fictional journey, while love and the bond between father and son remain at its heart.

The novel is being developed. A publication date and final editions have not yet been announced.

About the author

Home, across two shores.

Originally from Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ervin Hodžić lives in St. Petersburg, Florida, and owns an independent contracting business. He enjoys basketball and swimming, and holds a deep affection for his family, his hometown, and the Vrbas River.

His forthcoming science-fiction novel explores love, grief, friendship, and alternate history. Written in English with naturally explained Bosnian words and phrases, it brings the warmth of family meals, coffee, and familiar voices into a mystery about two possible lives.
